Happy Holidays from Rawlins Cross (VIDEO: MacPherson’s Lament)

From our families to yours, we’re wishing all our fans and friends many compliments of the season.

Over the next few days, we’ll be posting video from our 2008 Headline Performance at the Halifax New Years Eve Celebrations on the Grand Parade. You may remember it blew quite a blizzard that night, but we played on and enjoyed ringing in the New Year with throngs of Haligonians.

The first tune we played was MacPherson’s Lament, probably our best known instrumental and one we’ve been playing regularly since the very early days of Rawlins Cross. MacPherson, as the legend goes, was a fiddler and a folk hero who was wrongfully hanged by the authorities of the day. Please excuse the wonky tuning on the pipes and whistle here… the weather was playing havoc with Ian’s wind instruments! Here it is below:

We’re pretty confident the weather conditions inside the venues we’ll be visiting throughout Atlantic Canada this January will be a little more forgiving. For details on the Heart Head Hands Tour of Atlantic Canada January 13 – 22, 2011 click here.
